OPPORTUNITY: Choreographic Observership with Casson & Friends (2023)

Do you want a new perspective on Casson & Friends’ work?

As Casson & Friends develop our latest co-created work, The Allotment Project we continue our commitment to artist development by offering 2 paid choreographic observerships.  

The scheme will offer 2 UK based artists the chance to spend 2 days with Casson & Friends, getting hands-on with the production, as the company work in the studio to create their performance and bring it to the stage.

The opportunity will allow artists to take class with the company, observe studio rehearsals, run throughs, technical rehearsals and speak with members of the cast and creative team.

The opportunity is most suitable for choreographers / practitioners / recent graduates with an interest in dance theatre, collaborative and community co-created work, and small scale/rural touring.

We welcome applications from all groups, especially those underrepresented in the arts, and actively encourage those from diverse backgrounds to apply.

8th September
11th October
12th October
13th October
(The opportunity is 2 days with exact days and timings to be decided in discussion with selected applicants)

Location:
Restoke, Stoke-on-Trent
(Travel expenses will be covered for successful applicants)

Support:
Casson & Friends are able to offer a contribution to each artist of £150 per day, and will cover expenses and transport to and from the rehearsals.

This will ask for some basic personal information, for a CV, and a statement of interest (200 words or 2/3 minutes audio/video) describing why this opportunity is of interest and how it relates to your practice.
