How are you/have you been involved with Casson & Friends?

I collaborated with Tim on Fiend back in 2014 and perform in it. Taking my laptop and camera into a studio for a few weeks to make a twenty minute piece was a steep introduction to the world of dance, and a wonderful one.

What do you love about dance?

Dance is the only thing that makes me cry in a theatre.

What song always makes you dance?

'Fiend' (2014) A Casson & Friends collaboration. Performed and Choreographed by Tim Casson Computer Programming and Operation by Tom Butterworth Music: Claude Debussy and Jamie McCarthy Costuming: Jay Barry Matthews Duration: 18 Minutes Supported by dancedigital & University of Bedfordshire, Greenwich Dance, Jasmin Vardimon Company and Arts Council England.
'Fiend' is a solo performance that uses Nijinsky's 'Afternoon of a Faun' as a starting point to explore themes of connection, how we see and how we are seen. The work is the first collaboration between dance artist Tim Casson and video technician Tom Butterworth and uses innovative manipulation of live video to present multiple versions of the same performer that interact through well-timed choreographic action. 'Fiend' questions the idea of a solo performance as projected video reveals a magical world where the performer multiplies. As his actions are relocated in time and re-told in a new context, a very human character emerges, searching for connection in his virtual world. © Tim Casson / Casson & Friends 2014
